Business Support for SMEs
Where and how do I, as a business, access business support?
I did not know that the support even existed ! is a common theme amongst businesses.
In recent months I have had businesses who informed me that they had to pay a fee for information on how to access grants for their business.
No surprise then, when they paid the
fee, they were signposted to their local Growth Hub. So maybe this will help businesses save money and help make informed decisions before businesses go and pay to get business support.
1) No matter where you are in the UK you can contact the National Helpline for Business:
2) I would also suggest that you know and understand what your Local Enterprise Agency (LEP)
has to offer in terms of Business Support.
- if you are not sure who your LEP is, then you can search for your local LEP on this site.
Each LEP should have a Growth Hub
subsidiary that is able to deliver a free support service.
Growth Hubs should be able to provide Information, Advice and Guidance to all businesses at all stages. Not all Growth Hub delivery models are the same but the principal of IAG is the same.
Here is the information on all the Growth Hubs -
Other support organisations for businesses are:
3) The Enterprise Agencies:
Very good for start ups but some offer support for existing businesses. Find your Local Enterprise
Depending on your age The Princes Trust -
4) Business Membership Organisations:
British Chamber Of Commerce (find your local) -
Federation of Small Businesses -
This is by no means it, in terms of business support, this is merely to highlight the pathway to access
free information and support for anyone thinking of starting a business to existing businesses
looking to engage business support for your business whether financial or non-financial.
Lets make sure that each and every SME Business knows how to access business support !
Saving you TIME and Saving you MONEY !
